Ground Investigations to Commence at St Catherine’s Breakwater – Ports of Jersey Update
Following last week’s update, Ports of Jersey are pleased to confirm that they are still on track to commence the works at the start of February. Below is a high level plan and timeline for next month.
Mobilisation & Site Setup
Geomarine will mobilise equipment, plant, welfare facilities and scaffolding for access to the beach, this will start 29 January.
Test Pits & Boreholes
From 02 February the works begin, the investigative work includes 4 Boreholes and 10 trial pits on and around the slipway and buttress. This will involve removal of cobbles, installation of scaffolding, excavation, drilling, crane operations and reinstatement.
Demobilisation
Removal of all equipment, plant etc is scheduled to be carried out at the end February but this is subject to environmental and weather delays during the works.
What to expect on site
- Occasional noise from drilling and reinstatement works
- Presence of specialist contractors, survey teams and support vehicles
- Temporary access restrictions around active work zones for safety reasons
- Pedestrian access to the slipway will be maintained but vehicle and vessel access will not be possible during works on the slipway due to equipment and scaffolding
Next Update
Ports of Jersey will keep us informed of any significant changes to the schedule that could impact you.
