Update on Gorey Pier Investigative Work

Please find below an update from Harbours on the investigative works currently taking place on Gorey Pier:

Following on from last week’s project update, we’re pleased to report that the first week of investigative work on Gorey Pier has progressed well.

This means that vehicle access and parking on the pier arm will resume from this Friday 30 May at 18.00.

We are also able to bring forward some of the works taking place on the pier head so the pier head (figure 1) will be closed from this evening until tomorrow evening.

Week beginning Monday 02 June

Please see the below details for next week’s activities:

  • Monday 02 through till Friday 06 – hand pit 01 (HP1) at the southern end of the pier arm will mean that parking bays past the red line shown in figure 2 will be suspended and vehicle access will only be for deliveries and emergencies.
  • Monday 02 June – a trial pit in front of the Thai cafe will be dug whilst the cafe is closed.
  • Tuesday 03 and Wednesday 04 June – trial pits will continue along the base of the pier wall within the harbour.
  • Thursday 05 and Friday 06 June – trial pits 04 and 05 on the pier arm (as shown in figure 3) will require the pier to be closed to vehicles between 08:00 and18:00.
