Vacancy for a Member of the Rate Appeal Board – Honorary Position
The Rate Appeal Board hears appeals from both individuals and businesses who wish to contest decisions and rulings made by the Parish Assessment Committees in respect of a Rate Assessment.
This is an unremunerated role and Board Members act in an honorary capacity. The Board meet only when an appeal has been received. It is not anticipated that this will be more than 3 to 4 times a year. Meetings of the Board can be arranged around the availability of its Members.
For this appointments exercise, the Minister for Treasury and Resources proposes to appoint Board Members for a term of up to five years. Board Members will be able, however, to choose to resign during their term of office. Knowledge of the parish rate system is not essential, but Board Members will ideally have some relevant financial, legal, property or business experience.
