Gorey Pier – Landing Stage Update

Ports of Jersey are pleased to advise that their planning application to remove the old landing stage has now been approved. This is an important first step in helping them to protect the long‑term stability and heritage of the pier.

At the same time, Ports of Jersey have been working through the process of choosing a local contractor to carry out the demolition. They have confirmed that Jersey Demolition Company will be leading the works.

What the approved works include

  • Removing the upper concrete deck and supporting pillars of the landing stage
  • Installing temporary bracing to support the original pier structure to maintain stability

What happens next

For everyone’s safety, the pier head—the area where the landing stage connects to the main pier—will need to be closed while the demolition is taking place.

Over the next couple of weeks, Ports of Jersey will be working closely with Jersey Demolition Company to finalise the detailed demolition environmental management plan and methodology. Once that’s complete, they will be in a position to share clearer information about any additional impact the works might have on users.

The work is expected to start on site next month, with completion planned just ahead of the summer holidays.
