New Course Offered to Potential Election Candidates

Islanders who are considering standing for election in 2026 are being invited to sign up for a new course designed to help them learn more about the roles and responsibilities of States Members.

The six-week course is free to attend and will cover more about the roles which those who are successful may wish to take on, the support that’s available to Members and how both the Government and the Assembly work.

Attendees will also learn more about standing for election in Jersey and gain insight into how to approach public speaking and the media, the rules regarding election advertising and how to stay safe online.

The course is being organised by Vote.je – Jersey’s official election guide – and brings together experienced officers from a range of organisations including the States Greffe, Government of Jersey, and the States of Jersey Police.

The course will begin on Wednesday 28 January, with sessions between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. There is no obligation for potential candidates to attend. Islanders who choose to attend are also not obliged to move forward with standing for election.

Anyone interested in attending the course should email [email protected].
