St Catherine’s Breakwater – August Sporting Events
Ports of Jersey has kindly advised the Parish of the following sporting events taking place during August at St Catherine’s Breakwater:
Aquathlon series Run by the Jersey Triathlon Club, the Aquathlon series is a swim and run event which takes place on the first three Thursdays in August: 7, 14 and 21, with Thursday 28 August as a reserve day. There is a short, middle and long course which includes a swim from the slipway, run along the breakwater and onto the road for the longer run course. Start times: Short race: 6pm Medium race: 6.15pm Long race: 6.30pm. There will be no road closure or parking suspension as marshals will be present to safely guide competitors through the course.
Jersey to France swim challenge Saturday 2 August 6.30am Setting off from La Coupe beach, Fliquet Bay, this 14 mile relay swim takes teams to the north shores of Carteret. Each team will have between two and six swimmers and will have its own guard boat. A Notice to Mariners will be issued to advise mariners to proceed with caution when transiting the area.
Round the Rock Ultra Marathon Saturday 2 August 7am Starting in St Helier, the Ultra Marathon takes runners around the island’s coast. The first checkpoint is St Catherine’s and organisers will set-up a water station for participants. The first runners are expected to reach St Catherine’s around 9am.
